About Best Casinos Ireland

Best Casinos Ireland started with a spreadsheet. For years I kept notes on every casino I played at: how long withdrawals took, which bonus terms caught me out, which support teams answered the question I’d actually asked. Friends began asking for it, so I turned it into this site.

Who I am

I’m Clodagh Ritchie, and I live in Galway. I’ve been playing at online casinos, and writing about them, for eight years. I’m not a high roller. I play the way most Irish players do: a set budget, a few evenings a month, mostly slots and live roulette, and a strong dislike of small print.

That’s the point of view this site is written from. I’m not interested in which casino has the biggest headline bonus. I care about whether an ordinary player, depositing ordinary amounts with a Revolut card, gets treated fairly and paid on time.

How I test casinos

Every casino on this site gets the same treatment before it’s listed.

  • I open a real account as an Irish player and go through the full ID check.
  • I deposit my own euro, usually with Revolut, and try other methods where they’re offered.
  • I read the bonus terms in full and compare them with the general terms.
  • I play the games for real, on a phone and a laptop.
  • I time withdrawals from request to money in my account.
  • I ask customer support a real question and judge the answer.

I re-check every casino each month. Scores go up and down, and a casino that starts delaying payouts or changing terms without notice comes off the list.

How this site makes money

Best Casinos Ireland is free to read. Some casinos pay me a commission when someone signs up through a link on this site. That’s how the site pays for itself, and it’s standard across casino review sites.

What commission never does is decide a ranking. Casinos can’t pay to be listed, pay for a higher score or review my copy before it’s published. If a casino I list starts treating players badly, it comes off the list, whatever it pays.

What I won’t do

  • List a casino I haven’t deposited at and withdrawn from myself.
  • Hide the catch in a bonus.
  • Recommend a casino without checking its licence.
  • Pretend gambling is a way to make money. It isn’t.

Keeping it independent

If you think I’ve got something wrong, whether that’s an out-of-date offer, a payout that took longer for you or a casino you think deserves a look, I want to hear about it. Corrections are made as soon as they’re checked, and the date at the top of each page shows when it was last updated.

You can find my current ranking of the top online casinos in Ireland on the homepage.
