A casino bonus is a sales tool, and that’s fine as long as you know what you’re buying. A €1,000 welcome package with 40x wagering and a seven-day deadline is worth far less than it sounds. Eighty free spins with no wagering at all can be worth more than they look.
On this page I’ve ranked the current welcome offers at the casinos I recommend, not by size, but by how realistic it is to turn them into money you can withdraw. If you’d rather see the overall picture first, my list of the top online casinos for Irish players weighs bonuses alongside payouts, licences and games.

How to work out what a bonus is really worth
Forget the headline number. Three figures tell you what a bonus is worth: the wagering multiplier, what it applies to, and the time you have to clear it.
A worked example
Say you deposit €100 and get a 100% bonus of €100.
- At 30x on the bonus only, you need to bet €3,000 before you can withdraw.
- At 35x on the deposit plus bonus, you need to bet €7,000.
- At 50x on the bonus, you need to bet €5,000.
On slots with a 96% RTP, the casino expects to keep about 4% of everything you bet. On €3,000 of bets, that’s around €120 on average, a little more than the €100 bonus itself. On €7,000, it’s about €280, more than the bonus is worth. That’s the maths behind why I rate small bonuses with fair terms above big ones with heavy wagering.
No wagering beats everything
When there’s no wagering, every euro you win is yours. That’s why PlayOJO’s 80 free spins sit at the top of my list, even though the headline looks modest next to a €1,500 package.
Types of casino bonus
Welcome bonuses
A match on your first deposit, sometimes spread over several deposits. Jackpot City, Royal Vegas and PlayZee split theirs into stages. Only move on to the next stage if you were going to deposit again anyway.
Free spins
Spins on a named slot at a set stake. Check the value per spin (often €0.10) and whether the winnings carry wagering.
No deposit bonuses
A small bonus for signing up, with no deposit needed. They’re rare in Ireland now and come with tight wagering and low caps on what you can withdraw. Treat one as a free look around, not a way to win.
Cashback
A percentage of your losses back, ideally as cash. PlayOJO’s OJOplus pays a small amount back on every real-money bet, win or lose.
Reload bonuses
Matched bonuses on later deposits, often weekly. Same rules as a welcome bonus: check the wagering first.
Loyalty and VIP schemes
Points for every bet, which you can swap for bonus credit or perks. Jackpot City and Royal Vegas have the longest-running schemes on my list; PlayZee’s missions and levels are the most active.
The terms that make or break a bonus

- Wagering requirement. How many times you must bet the bonus (and sometimes the deposit). Lower is better.
- What it applies to. “Bonus only” is half the work of “deposit plus bonus”.
- Time limit. Seven days is common. That’s grand if you play most evenings; if you don’t, skip the bonus.
- Maximum bet. Usually around €5 a spin while the bonus is active. One bet over the limit can cost you your winnings.
- Game weighting. Slots usually count 100%. Table games and live casino often count 10% or nothing.
- Maximum win. Some bonuses cap what you can withdraw, especially from free spins.
- Excluded payment methods. Skrill and Neteller deposits are often excluded from welcome offers.
How to claim a casino bonus, step by step
- Read the bonus terms on the casino’s promotions page before you register.
- Sign up through the offer link, so the right bonus is attached to your account.
- Verify your account straight away.
- Check whether you need a bonus code, and enter it in the cashier if so.
- Deposit at least the minimum with a payment method that qualifies (not always Skrill or Neteller).
- Check your balance shows the bonus, and note the wagering and the deadline.
- Play eligible games within the maximum bet until the wagering is done.
Casino bonus myths
“A bigger bonus is a better bonus”
Not when the wagering grows with it. A €50 bonus you can clear is worth more than a €1,500 one you can’t.
“Free spins are free money”
Only if the winnings come without wagering. Otherwise, they’re bonus credit with conditions.
“You can beat wagering with table games”
Most casinos count blackjack and roulette at 10% or less towards wagering, and some exclude them completely. Trying to work around this usually voids the bonus.
“Cancelling a bonus loses your deposit”
Usually not. Forfeiting a bonus normally removes the bonus money and any winnings from it, but your own cash balance stays yours. Check the terms to be sure.
When to say no to a bonus
I skip the bonus more often than I take it. Say no when the wagering is 40x or more, when you want to withdraw quickly, when you mostly play live casino or blackjack (which barely count towards wagering), or when the deadline is shorter than the time you’d naturally spend playing. Most casinos let you opt out at the deposit screen. If you’ve already opted in, you can usually forfeit the bonus from your account and keep your cash balance.
Claiming bonuses responsibly
A bonus should never be the reason you deposit more than you planned. Set your deposit limit before you claim anything, take one stage of a package at a time, and if clearing the wagering starts to feel like a chore, stop and cancel it. The casino will still be there next week.
Casino bonuses: your questions
What is the best casino bonus in Ireland right now?
For value, PlayOJO’s 80 free spins with no wagering on a €10 deposit. For a matched bonus, 10Bet’s 100% up to €50 at 30x on the bonus only is the fairest.
What does 35x wagering mean?
You must bet 35 times the bonus amount (or the deposit plus bonus, depending on the terms) before you can withdraw winnings from it. A €50 bonus at 35x means €1,750 in bets.
Can I withdraw a casino bonus straight away?
Not usually. Bonus money has to be wagered first. No-wagering offers are the exception: winnings from those are paid as cash.
Are no deposit bonuses worth it?
As a free look at a casino, yes. As a way to win money, rarely. They come with tight wagering and low limits on what you can withdraw.
Can I refuse a casino bonus?
Yes. Most casinos let you opt out when you deposit, or forfeit an active bonus from your account page.
