Revolut has become the everyday card for a huge number of Irish people, and I’m one of them. It’s also the card I use to test every casino. What surprises most people is that only a handful of casinos mention Revolut by name. Everywhere else, Revolut works the same way any Visa or Mastercard debit card does, which is mostly a good thing.

Revolut card or “Revolut casino”: what’s the difference?

A “Revolut casino” usually means one of two things. Either the casino lists Revolut as its own payment option in the cashier, as 22bet does, or it simply accepts Visa and Mastercard debit cards, which includes your Revolut card. In practice the result is the same: you type in your Revolut card details, the money moves instantly and the payment shows in your Revolut app as a card transaction.

The difference shows up on withdrawals. Some casinos only pay back to cards that are already on file, so deposit with Revolut if you want to be paid on Revolut.

Depositing with Revolut, step by step

1. Open the casino’s cashier and choose Visa/Mastercard, or Revolut if it’s listed.
2. Enter your Revolut card details, or tap to use Apple Pay or Google Pay if your Revolut card is set up there and the casino accepts it.
3. Approve the payment in the Revolut app if it asks you to.
4. The deposit should show in your casino balance straight away.

If it’s declined, check the gambling block first (more on that below), then check that the name on your casino account matches the name on your Revolut account.

Withdrawing to Revolut

Request a withdrawal to the Revolut card you deposited with. Once the casino approves it, the money usually reaches your Revolut account in one to three working days, though PlayOJO and 22bet were quicker in my tests. The payment often shows as a refund or a card credit rather than a transfer. Verify your casino account first, because an unverified account is the main thing that holds up a first withdrawal.

Revolut’s gambling block and spending controls

Fees, currency and bonuses with Revolut

Casinos don’t usually charge for Revolut card deposits, and Revolut doesn’t charge for euro card payments. Keep your casino account in euro, though. If a casino processes your payment in another currency, Revolut’s exchange rules apply and you may pay a small fee, especially at weekends.

Revolut card deposits normally qualify for welcome bonuses, because the casino sees an ordinary debit card. If a bonus page excludes “certain payment methods”, that almost always means e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, not your card. Check the terms to be certain.
