Easiest foccacia recipe to bake at home
One of the joyful simplicities of life is baking bread. The purity of a few good quality ingredients, combined with love and time that transform into a room filled with the scent and warmth of a crusty loaf straight from the oven is an unmistakeable feeling of home.
They always say that if you are selling your house you should bake some bread during the viewings as people will fall in love with the scent, and hence the house. It is selling a great story!
This is my go-to focaccia recipe that I often make in Summer. It is perfect for sharing and dipping. The children can’t get enough of it and it makes a great addition to the lunchboxes too with some hummus and crudités instead of sandwiches.
Easiest Focaccia to bake at home - Recipe
500g strong flour (or I sometimes use spelt)
10g fine salt
7g dried yeast
350mls warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
Combine the ingredients and knead well for 10 minutes. Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp tea towel and leave to rise in a warm place for several hours.
Prepare a baking tray, lightly oiled and floured. Knock the dough back and place it into the baking tray. Allow to rise again for an hour if you have time. Make finger imprints all over the top. Sprinkle with herbs and sea salt and drizzle with olive oil.
Bake in a hot over (220 degrees C) for 15-20 minutes.
It should sound hollow when you knock on the bottom of the loaf, and you know it is cooked.
Allow to cool slightly before slicing into large cubes and serving.
