Reflecting on the season - Journaling Prompts and Motivational Exercises for February

The first sight of catkins on the hazel trees, the brave snowdrops, Wordsworth’s wonderful dancing daffodils, and the early hellebores all bring the joy of Spring. It’s just what we need after the lengthy dark months in Ireland!

As February rolls in, it's a perfect time to reflect on the season and set intentions for the month ahead. I love the excitement of planning ahead, and thinking back to whether I am on track for the year. Last year I set 3 Huge Goals on the 1st January and achieved two of them during the year - the third goal is close to being achieved now too. It feels great.

For this year I was over-ambitious and wanted to have a mood-board, content for the 12 months and 3 goals plotted in early January. I have achieved none of these things and it is surely because I aimed too high instead of taking small steps.

Jeff Olsen in his book “The Slight Edge” says,

"Every great accomplishment starts with a small, seemingly insignificant action,"

Whether you're looking to boost your motivation, gain clarity, or simply find a moment of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, journaling can be a powerful tool to help you achieve your goals. In my book “Half Light Half Dark” I explore how wonderful journaling is. So today let’s explore some journaling prompts and motivational exercises to inspire your reflections and keep you on track this February.

2. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?

And although journaling might not be for everyone……it really is for me.

Although I adore this clip for its absurdity ;-) I know that journaling, without a doubt, has been my lifelong go-to for motivation, dreams, hopes, worries and to-do lists. I particularly like to make it a pleasurable experience, especially if I am do reflections or future plans . I may light a candle and enjoy a coffee and some chocolate, or if it is in the evening, have a cocktail or glass of Baileys. You should have a look at my book for some more ideas and tips.
